Dear brothers and sisters at Messiah,
Our brother in Christ Bill Brinkman was called home to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the age of 94, following a period of illness. Bill and his wife Barb became members of Messiah in 1997. Throughout his time as a member, Bill was faithful and active in worship, Bible study and fellowship; he also served Messiah in numerous volunteer capacities, notably as one of our longest serving elders.
We grieve over Bill's passing with Barb, and with all of Bill's family and friends. But we are also grateful that Bill is free from his earthly sufferings, and is now in the presence of his Savior Jesus Christ, awaiting the resurrection of the body on the last day.
Visitation for Bill will be held on Friday, January 31st at Pederson Funeral Home, 127 North Monroe Street in Rockford, from 2 to 4 pm & 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service for Bill will be held at Messiah on Saturday, February 1st at 11:00 am, with visitation beforehand at 10:00 am and a luncheon following the service.
For those unable to attend, the livestreamed service can be viewed online by clicking here.
Bill’s complete obituary is available at Pederson Funeral Home’s website.
Please keep all those who knew and loved Bill in your prayers in the coming days; feel free to use the prayer below as a model.
Lord God, maker of heaven and earth and giver of life, we thank You for all the mercies You granted to our brother Bill during his earthly life, especially for calling him to faith in Jesus Christ. Comfort Barb and all the survivors who mourn Bill's death with the hope of the glorious resurrection and a joyful reunion in heaven. Keep us mindful that we are mortal so that we will ever be prepared to die in the faith and finally receive the glory promised to all who trust in Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Yours in Him,
Pastor Eric Black & Rick Krueger
